Fender 50th Anniversary Jazz Bass - Fretless
here is a Fender 50th Anniversary fretless bass. 1996 celebrated the 50th year of fender with a line of limited edition basses. The jazz bass is number 464 of a lot of 500 basses made that year.
This store purchase 50th anniversary Fender jazz bass is a puzzle. Whether it's all original is the puzzle. Searching through the 1996 Fender frontline it seems the 50th didn't come as a fretless. We disassembled the bass and it seems legit (pictured).
It has the 50th badge on the headstock and the neck is dated Aug 22nd 1996 while the body is dated Aug 13 1996. If any smart collectors want to give any more insight, comments are welcome.
This bass was #464 of 500 made. The serial number J464 didn't show up on the fender serial number lookup and a google search for the part number didn't either.
None the less our tech took the black pickguard off that was on it, put on the the original 50th pick guard and we're including the black pick guard.
This bass is as playable as any well set up 1996 american bass.
